My spring themed event was planned for New York University’s School of Law and the event was held in one New York University’s beautiful event spaces, Greenberg Lounge. Greenberg Lounge is a fantastic place to hold an event because the windows look directly out on Washington Square Park and during the springtime in New York City it is especially welcoming to see the trees, plants and flowers coming to life.
One of my most favorite places in the world is Tuscany and I decided to incorporate the rich, rustic, earthy Tuscan feel into the decor, food and wine. The luncheon was pre-plated so I had a bit of a challenge on my hands: feeding ten guests per table with the appetizer, main course and dessert already placed on it. I thought about my time in Italy and the best occasions were shared over a meal so I decided to present the appetizer family style. That way, our guests who may of not known anyone at their table could break bread together and start conversing and feel more comfortable. Boy, did they!! The wine start flowing and everyone just had a wonderful time!!
When I think of springtime, I think of green. I selected a lovely green damask cloth that really complimented the warm wood tones already present in the event space. Sunflowers are very popular in Italy and just lend themselves to a bright and cheery springtime feeling which I also wanted to construe.
As for the entertainment I decided to change things up a bit and chose a doo-wop group. I have typically used decor as means to brighten an event but this time the music almost had me beat. It just added a wonderful layer of cheer.
